Sunrise Cambodia provides a home and residential care for more than 60 orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children and education for hundreds of children from poor communities. The children that come to us have often been trafficked into prostitution, slave labour, begging rings and illegal adoption rings, are victims of domestic violence due to parental alcoholism or drug dependency, abandoned in hospitals by their families, are disabled or live on the streets to survive. As a result, they are in great need emotionally and physically when they arrive at Sunrise.
Changing Lives in Cambodia: Our Journey of Compassion and Hope
From Geraldine, Sunrise Founder
“Today, I salute Janice Woudwyk, who funded a life-changing purchase for our disabled children. I never thought I would see the day that Cambodia would have motorised ‘Smart’ wheelchairs. Our kids are over the moon and a whole new world has opened up to them. I cannot wipe the smiles on their faces when they press the controls and wheel towards me every day. A priceless gift of independence. Thank you so much, Janice Woudwyk!”
Supportive Care Australia is proud to sponsor the English Corner as they provide non-for-profit education in Bali. For many families in Bali, education is inaccessible. The English Corner provides free English education to Balinese students that come from disadvantaged families with limited access to educational provisions like books, bags, shoes, blackboards, study desks and markers.
Their program was established in January 2019 and has since expanded to accommodate many more areas and little minds ready to learn. The English Corner now has 41 branches in various villages and 1,450 students and 45 teachers.
With the support of their sponsors like Supportive Care Australia, the English Corner continues to branch out to support more low-income families in Bali to have non-for-profit English education and educational materials—assisting in future opportunities for these children.
Our sponsorship also supports contributions to families and individuals in Bali living with a disability.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live. We recognise their continuing connection to the land, water and community. We pay our respect to elders past, present and emerging.
